Solving a Real-World Urban Postal Service System Redesign Problem

Due to recent technological advancements, more diversified customer demand, and increasingly harder competition, traditional postal service systems have experienced significant changes all over the world. In Norway, through a strategic reform called post-in-shop, undertaken in 2013, most services are now provided at counters located retailer stores order improve accessibility, operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness. This has led complex decision-making problem for redesign of urban networks across country. this paper, two-stage method is proposed solve real-world network problem. First, two location models employed determine optimal locations counters. second stage, simulation model built evaluate system with different demand allocation plans under realistic stochastic environment. Among other insights, our results show that can be used effectively accessibility by making location-allocation decisions.
